The season makes a bold entrance for some; it sneaks up on others quietly without warning. Some wait all year, planning for their moment to lead friends into their next great bash. Thinking ahead, can anyone move into another crisp season without celebrating it in a way that brings everyone positively together? As the moments segue into a favorite season for so many, it’s time to plan an enjoyable and unforgettable place in time. There are many ways to celebrate the seasonal change, but an engaging gathering with take-home treats starts annual gifting deliciously early. Don’t be alarmed about devising a plan of well-orchestrated details; we’re confident you’ll find one or more great autumn soiree ideas among these!
Matcha or Mulled Wine?
Both. Iced or hot matcha works into a savory autumn menu, as does mulled wine. Each beverage offers an enjoyable flavor profile. Matcha offers an opportunity to create-to-taste, while mulled wine delivers much anticipated traditional seasonal flavors. Two signature drinks served at this event offer two beverages with healthy qualities.
Now Serving…
Flavor, texture, and lifestyle choices matter here, so plan this menu accordingly. Animated conversations also matter here, so let your imagination run wild with good tastes.
Roasted Eggplant, savory tortilla pizza slices (mushroom, spinach, and asparagus) drizzled with hummus, crispy mini vegetable lumpia, grilled chicken sliders with onions and brie on heated pretzel rolls, hot gourd and root salad with creamy thyme dressing, fresh seasonal berry salad with champagne dressing. For dessert, individual boozy carrot cakes with vanilla cream cheese frosting.
Set a simple dinner table under a large over-hanging tree or set of trees. Under a dense floral trellis works, too, while creating a memorable setting. If your event starts late in the afternoon, add live candles to the center of the table and Edison lights in the immediate tree or trellis area as complementary light sources. Under windy conditions place all live candles in a high-wall glass lantern for safety and light maintenance.
To simplify planning activities, if you don’t have time to prepare all the food, hire a student chef to help bring it all together. Gaining valuable work hours and portfolio experience as a primary culinary talent at an event helps developing chefs while freeing up more time to focus on interactions.
Background Noise
Simple floral, wordless sounds, lighting on and around the dinner table. Keep it simple. Focus on direct interactions, flavors, and creating positive new memories.
Something for Guests to Take Home
Sure they’ll have conversations and images to reflect upon, but sending them home with something that makes them smile post-event illuminates in the coming weeks. Gifts of ambiance, flavor and texture, and interaction are well received. These gifts are simple to create and leave a lovely impression of everyone who celebrates the new season together.
Beautiful noise. Create an official event playlist and share it with everyone an hour after the event via text! All the music on the playlist must be instrumental.
Flowers for all. As guests leave, give them one of the event floral arrangements. Be sure to save one for yourself!
Homemade granola bars dipped in dark chocolate. Wrap them individually in parchment paper and tape the edges. or each guest, place one dozen bars in a baking box, and wrap the box in textured Kraft paper bound by a natural fiber ribbon. Set the wrapped boxes on a table by the front door and make sure everyone gets their semi-sweet treat as they exit.

An Experience to Share and Wear
Not all soirees are high brow events, some are highly interactive and unforgettable as a result of well-planned activities. Since autumn is a time of traditional festivals, fuse a traditional seasonal element into the mix. Pre-bake gingerbread hearts, pre-mix royal icing with plenty of piping bags and a selection of icing tips, and create an event activity center. As guests inquire about the activity, watch them engage the sweet reality of decorating their own message onto a gingerbread heart. Take plenty of images of the event to mark the amusing event. Before guests leave, bag up the hearts in cellophane and thread a ribbon for them to wear out the door. Decorating gingerbread message hearts is the segue into gingerbread house season.
